Antique Engraving

A large and fine mixed method engraving by Joseph Pratt from the painting by Peter Graham depicting Highland cattle in a Scottish landscape. The engraving is in immaculate condition, in original English oak frame and archival mount. Peter Graham ( 1836-1921 ) trained at the Trustee`s Academy in Edinburgh. He exhibited regularly at both the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy in London. Joseph Pratt ( 1854-1910 ) was one of the most sought after engravers of the nineteenth century, executing works for Rosa Bonheur, Peter Graham and Edwin Landseer to name but a few.This engraving is in immaculate condition and was published by Arthur Tooth and Sons London in 1904. It is a signed artist`s proof, signed in pencil by both Peter Graham and Joseph Pratt and bears the Printsellers Association blind stamp.It is presented in original English oak frame and has been remounted in our own conservation workshop using archival board.
