A large and impressive bronze by Isadore Bonheur of a charging bull. A very rare model by one of the most highly acclaimes animal sculptors of the 19th century.
This model was exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1865 along with a companion piece and were initially ordered for the Sultans Palace in Constantinople. The charging bull is a rarer model than its companion standing bull.
Rich brown patination displaying a wealth of fine detail where every single area has been painstakingly incised to accurately portray the texture of the hide.
