Hunting Horse Art Print

Rare Signed Artist Proof Print. A fine print of Major T. Bouch MFH and the Belvoir Hounds, a rare signed example by one of England's foremost painters of horses Sir A. J. Munnings (1878-1959). Published by Frost and Reed in 1956 and bears the Fine Art Trade Guild blindstamp of authenticity. Early in the 1920s, Munnings was invited by the Master of the Belvoir Hounds, Major Tommy Bouch, to stay with him at Woolsthorpe, his family home, where he was to work on a series of paintings of the Belvoir Hounds. Major Bouch posed for the picture on a saddle-horse against the huge north window on the Woolsthorpe staircase, which provided Munnings with perfect light. The real horse in the picture was named Kiltie and was painted in later. This signed example is in immaculate condition, signed by Munnings in pencil, bears the Fine Art Trade Guild blind stamp of authenticity and presented in conservation mounts ready for framing. As specialist framers of antique works of art we can, if required, supply it framed in either a modern or genuine antique frame of the period. The size quoted is the mounted size, image size being 61cm x 50 cm
