A truly superb pair of oils on canvas of Bulldogs by Arthur Wardle RI, a master at capturing the character and personality of the breeds. A better pair of Bulldog pictures I would think would be impossible to find. They are in the original swept frames, totally untouched and have been under glass all their life. The paintings are in very good condition. The frames have some minor losses to the edges but otherwise very good. Arthur Wardle (1864-1949) exhibited at both the Fine Art Society and the Royal Academy. He became a member of the RI in 1922. The paintings measure approx. 22 inches by 14 inches and the overall size including frames is approx 31 inches by 23 inches.
