A rare, large and impressive, possibly unique, deer stalking inkwell. Bronze patinated copper, brass, art metal and bronze taking the form of a game bag embossed with hooves, a rifle, powder flask, sword and hat. The hat opens to reveal a superb miniature painting of a stag and a brass ink pot. The game bag opens on integral hinges to reveal a large gilded interior. The game bag, superbly modelled has a cross hatched belt and buckles. The rifle, sword and powder flask are equally excellent in modelling. The whole has a superb bronze patination on an integral mellow gilt brass/bronze base underscored with an original red velvet protector. This is a truly exceptional inkwell and desk tidy both in size, quality and subject matter and a model we have never seen before in our 40 years of experience.
